Which rooms are we using?

The gathering will be held in the Community & Linen rooms and Bishops Parlour. You can check them out on the website links below. 

About: Community & Linen Rooms 

The Community & Linen Rooms are adjoining, flexible spaces with access to a private balcony, kitchenette, and projector screen.

About: Bishops Parlour Room 

The Bishop’s Parlour is a character-filled heritage room with high ceilings, a fireplace, and grand foyer.

All spaces are WIFI-enabled and equipped with basic AV (available to hire).

Transport and Parking

Parking: Paid parking is available across the road on St Heliers Street.

Public Transport:

  • Buses run regularly along Johnston Street.
  • Train stations are nearby, with walking access to the venue.

Catering 

Morning tea and lunch will be provided. 

Vegan, gluten-free and dietary options will be catered for, please specify this in your registration. 

Accessibility 

  • All rooms are wheelchair accessible, except the balcony in the Community & Linen Rooms.

Gender diversity is welcome at the Convent, and patrons are welcome to use any restroom that matches their gender identity or expression. There are gendered toilets available close to the venue and gender-neutral toilets available in other locations within the Convent precinct. FAQs for Facilitators

Is there WIFI and AV equipment available? 

All rooms are WIFI-enabled (for a fee) and have basic AV equipment available to hirers. If a facilitator required this it would be at the facilitators expense. 

Hiring conditions for the Abbotsford Convent

  • Hirers must not affix anything to the interior or exterior walls of the venues or buildings as our venues are heritage listed, aged, and very sensitive. (e.g. no bluetac) 
  • Naked flames and oil-based smoke machines are not permitted. 
  • Confetti, rice and balloons are not permitted.
  • Electrical items, ranging from urns and kettles to amps and lighting, must be tested and tagged. 
  • Overnight storage is not permitted unless the venue has been booked for this purpose.
